This week at the New York International Auto Show Saleen is unveiling it’s mid-engine two-seater S5S Raptor that is powered by a 650 horsepower supercharged 5.0-liter engine. Cost of this dream vehicle is around $180K and is tentatively schedule for production in 2010. The S5S Raptor will come with a six-speed manual transmission, will be able to run on E85 ethanol and sequential gearbox with paddle shifters. Some performance numbers for the Raptor include 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph, I guess that qualifies as an exotic car.
As for the stuff that will keep this beast on the ground, a rigid aluminum chassis with double wishbone front and rear, stability and traction control, four-wheel disc brakes with 15 inch front rotors and six pot calipers plus a set of 20 inch meats with Pirelli Rosso performance tires round out this awesome machine.

From the looks of the photo above Saleen is partnering with ASC to create this Power Sliding Glassroof. Also in the photo you can see how the roof slides back over the rear window, not sure what it’s sliding on though. I guess we will have to wait for the press release and photos which should come any day. For those who don’t know Saleen and ASC are owned by the same company and are also partnering to build the 650 horsepower mid-engine S5S Raptor. […]
