Saleen will be offering for the first time their high performance 5.0-liter 302 cubic inch powerplant as a crate engine for sale through its Speedlab Aftermarket Division. Crate engine packages will range from 390hp (normally-aspirated 302 engines) to 580hp (supercharged 302 engines). Variations of the 302 cubic inch crate motor are currently found in the Parnelli Jones Edition, Heritage Series, and the new 25th Anniversary Sterling Edition. The 5.0-Liter motor will be available in short or longblock configurations to satisfy all types of engine builders and power enthusiasts.

Check out this video of a Saleen equipped vehicle with the new ShakerCharger system they are developing for S197 Mustangs. Modern Mustang Muscle stopped by Saleen’s shop for a test ride in a ShakerCharger equipped Saleen and recorded some video. Check out the video above to see the ShakerCharger system in action.
Drew over at Modern Mustang Muscle sent us a tip about a new product Saleen is set to announce for S197 Mustang owners, the ShakerCharger system. The ShakerCharger from Saleen will sit directly above the twin-screw supercharger to provide S197 owners with a functional shaker hood scoop and forced induction. The ShakerCharger hood scoop assembly is made from injection molded plastic, contains a high-flow air filter that is 50% larger then the OEM filter and requires a cutout in the hood to be installed. No prices have been released nor any official details but look for these kits to be available sometime in May.
Details are unknown at this point but at the New York Internation Auto Show this week Saleen is unveiling a Power Sliding Glassroof made in conjuction with ASC which is owned by the same company as Saleen. From the looks of the photo above the Glassroof slides over the back glass. Looks pretty high-tech if you ask me. Check back for more updates and hopefully a press release. High-res image below:
This week at the New York International Auto Show Saleen is unveiling it’s mid-engine two-seater S5S Raptor that is powered by a 650 horsepower supercharged 5.0-liter engine. Cost of this dream vehicle is around $180K and is tentatively schedule for production in 2010. The S5S Raptor will come with a six-speed manual transmission, will be able to run on E85 ethanol and sequential gearbox with paddle shifters. Some performance numbers for the Raptor include 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph, I guess that qualifies as an exotic car.
As for the stuff that will keep this beast on the ground, a rigid aluminum chassis with double wishbone front and rear, stability and traction control, four-wheel disc brakes with 15 inch front rotors and six pot calipers plus a set of 20 inch meats with Pirelli Rosso performance tires round out this awesome machine.
It’s a big week for Saleen with the unveiling of the S5S Raptor at the New York Auto show and now news about the 2008 Dan Gurney Signature Edition Saleen Mustang. The Gurney Signature Edition Saleen features a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 producing 465 horsepower along with Saleen’s racecraft suspension and a paint scheme reminiscent of Burney’s 1969 Trans Am race car. Exterior body features include a unique hood with hood pins, front and rear spoilers. Only 300 limited edition cars will be built in three colors (100 each); Torch Red, Performance White, and Vista Blue with each receiving Dan Gurney’s autograph under the hood.

At this years New York Auto Show Saleen will be unveiling the S5S Raptor concept that will be powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged engine similar to the S302 engine stuffed into the Extreme Mustang. The concept’s engine is powered by E85 ethanol and should be able to launch the S5S to speeds above 200 mph mark.
The S5S Raptor will come with an all-aluminum chassis that is covered by a skin made from composite materials, something Saleen knows all to well. The Raptor will take on the premium performance market that is now held by the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Saleen keeps us on the edge of our seats with yet another amazing high-horsepower Mustang, the 2008 S302E “Extreme”. The new limited edition Saleen for 2008 will use a supercharged variation of the 302 found in the Parnelli Jones edition.
